Impacting the Kingdom by Impacting Kingdom Leaders

Pastors face all kinds of issues and have few places to turn for the assistance and support they need. Being in the pastorate has been described by Ken Blanchard as one of the three most difficult leadership professions to be in. The need for a comprehensive resource that can help pastors effectively deal with the issues they face is tremendous; The Pastors Roundtable can be that resource.

The Pastors Roundtable contains four distinct components:

  • Community-the development in a safe place of a "Koinonia, shoulder to shoulder bearing of each other’s burdens," not just a coffee grab and comparison of “what are you running" numbers.

  • Church Leadership Development—the provision for the development of the pastor at the roundtable and the equipping of that pastor with materials to lead in the development of that pastor’s church leadership team.
  •

  • Solution Generating Processes KANI (Keep Awake Night Issues) —a tried and true process for gaining insight into the "Keep Awake Night Issues" of life and ministry that pastors face. This will encompass larger issues, scheduled for discussion months in advance as well as acute issues that appear that need to be dealt with immediately.
  •

  • One on One Sessions with the Roundtable Chair—each pastor will meet with the Roundtable Chair once a month to be mentored/coached/supported.
  • The key result of The Pastors Roundtable is: Healthier Pastors through the development of a context of high trust where pastors can build community, and demonstrate vulnerability so that they can deal with the key issues in their lives. This will be done in a safe environment so that they can move to the posture where they see the “Real” reality of their circumstances and be guided by the Holy Spirit to develop and implement solutions to those issues.

"Wow. thanks so much Greg. I really mean this - You are the man/mentor/leader that has been missing from my life for too many years. As you can tell from my nature I'm not going to follow long anyone who cannot take me where I have not been or need to go. My greatest need is not another buddy, I need someone who I can submit to and follow. Thank you. As we do get to know one another I hope you will take the freedom to communicate with me from this role, which would include all the sweet encouragment that anyone will give, but will not neglect the strongly placed admonition as well."
Be wise Sir and take me with you, Brad Martin, The Church at Woodland

You’re doing a great job! God has worked in the hearts of the guys there and is binding our hearts together for the kingdom and for one another. Be encouraged as you minister to a few who minister to hundreds each week. You are making a difference in my life!

I love you!!!

God is using you in a great way in my life and in the lives of others. I spent some extra time this afternoon in prayer. I love you much my friend.

"I felt drained by the demands" was the prevailing reason pastors gave for leaving a position in local church ministry. (58%) The next reason was a feeling of isolation and loneliness. (51%)

-The study was reported in the 2005 book, Pastors in Transition: Why Clergy Leave Local Church Ministry.

"It was about finding a place to talk about the tough issues I’m dealing with"

“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed.”
